We felt honoured to take part in the annual LGBTQ+ Brighton Pride Community Parade again this year; members of our team and Foster Carers joined together to celebrate our current LGBTQ+ foster families and urge others to step forward.

As we draw towards the end of the academic year and the start of the summer holiday season, we'd like to say a great big THANK YOU to all the teachers, tutors, teaching assistants, administrators, nursery staff and SEN workers for supporting our city’s children and young people.

When you make the decision to become a foster carer, it’s likely you picture yourself taking in one vulnerable child at a time, however we have an urgent need for more Foster Carers for sibling groups. Currently, many siblings must be split up, which can add to the initial trauma of entering into the foster system and exacerbate what is already a very difficult time. When kept together, siblings can often provide comfort and reassurance for one another.

This year we kicked off the UK’s biggest annual fostering awareness campaign by saying a huge thank you to our Foster Carers for the love, support and stability they offer children and young people in foster care. It was an opportunity for us as a fostering service to celebrate the difference Foster Carers make, and to recognise their year-round commitment, passion and dedication.

We invited all those who foster Brighton & Hove children to be part of the day and hosted the event at the AMEX stadium.

Brighton & Hove City Council is continually seeking people from all walks of life to provide safe and supportive homes for vulnerable children and young people. From short-term and respite care, to long-term foster care and Supported Lodgings, all you need is a spare room and a genuine desire to make a difference.

We welcome applications from all cultural and ethnic backgrounds and encourage families, couples and single people to apply. Similarly, the young people we seek placements for come from a wide range of diverse backgrounds.
